New brake calliper.
A new front brake calliper works on a 260mm wave-pattern disc. It uses 30mm and 27mm pistons; this allows for a lighter body and along with low-expansion brake hose improves brake feel and stopping power.
HRC Launch Control
Developed with direct input from HRC’s racers, the CRF250R’s 3-Level Launch Control gives options to make the best start possible whether a pro-level rider or beginner, and whatever the riding conditions are.
Engine Mode Select Button (EMSB)
The Engine Mode Select Button (EMSB) alters the engine’s power and torque characteristics and three maps are available to suit riding conditions or rider preference: Mode 1 is the balanced, standard map, Mode 2 is smooth and Mode 3, aggressive.
Reliability matters, too. A new five-hole piston oil jet replaces the four-hole design and improves cooling, with optimised ignition timing.
Adjustable Renthal Fatbar
A Renthal Fatbar reduces rider fatigue and improves control. Its position can be adjusted four different ways–to tailor the riding position–and comes complete with a Renthal bar pad.
Showa suspension and DID wheels
The 49mm Showa front fork is fully adjustable for spring preload and rebound/compression damping. The Showa rear shock is also fully adjustable and operates through Pro-Link.
High Energy Output
Same awesome peak power, stronger off the bottom. The CRF250R’s DOHC 4-valve engine maintains its incredible high-energy peak power output. But HRC wanted to give it something extra: stronger torque through the lower rpm range. And this has been achieved with a 44mm diameter throttle body to speed up air flow, the re-shaping of both inlet and exhaust ports and the exhaust valve cam ‘closing’ profile reduced by 2°. The right-hand exhaust downpipe is also 50mm shorter. Honda engines are famed for their durability, and a new 5-hole piston jet ensures optimum piston cooling and ignition timing.
Engine Mode Select Button (EMSB). MX tracks are unpredictable, so it helps to be able to tailor the engine’s character to suit what you’re racing against. And the Engine Mode Select Button’s 3 Modes do just that; Mode 1 serves up a balanced power and torque delivery, suitable for the majority of conditions. Mode 2 smooths out power and torque, for improved rear wheel traction on slippery or muddy ground, while Mode 3 punches aggressively, for dealing with deep sand.
HRC Launch Control. Developed with direct input from Honda’s professional racers, HRC Launch Control has 3 operating levels and gives the CRF250R an advantage right out of the gate. Level 1 operates at 8,000rpm and is suitable for muddy conditions–or for more inexperienced riders. Level 2 is the basic setting for dry conditions and runs at 8,500rpm. Level 3 launches at 9,500rpm and is designed for expert riders.
Forged from Heat, after Heat
A chassis honed by competition, for competition. Designed around the principle of ‘mass centralisation’, the CRF250R’s seventh-generation aluminium tapered twin-spar frame locates everything as close as possible to the machine’s low centre of gravity, to elevate rear wheel traction. The fully adjustable 49mm Showa USD steel spring front fork is matched by a fully adjustable Showa rear shock; both offer supple control and feedback on the limit. The redesigned front brake calliper uses different sized pistons–it’s lighter and more powerful–while a new fork protector neatly reduces the chance of picking up stone damage.
Renthal control. The Renthal Fatbar reduces the weight of the steering system and flexes slightly for comfort; the top yoke features two handlebar-holder locations for moving the handlebar rearward and forward by 26mm. When the holder is turned 180 degrees, the handlebar can be moved an additional 10mm from the base position, resulting in four unique riding positions.
