Customers of James Whitham’s track day training schools got the chance to try the new GSX-R1000R yesterday [Wednesday 18 April], as the first event of the year took place at Mallory Park.
Under blue skies and warm asphalt, Whitham’s usual track day training sessions took place, with participants able to enjoy small on-track groups and dedicated instruction from Whitham himself, Buildbase Suzuki’s Richard Cooper, and Steve Brogan, among others.
However, they were also able to jump on a new GSX-R1000R for a session, to try the British Superbike and British Superstock 1000 championship-leading machine for themselves.

Tony, who went out twice with John Reynolds after enjoying his first session so much, said, “I’m going to buy one. And I’m not just saying that. I’m going to buy one. Most test rides you’re able to take on bikes are rides out from a dealership, and you rarely get to experience them fully. The James Whitham track days are the best track days I’ve done, and it’s been nice to also be able to actually try the new GSX-R for myself, on track, in such a good environment.
“I thought what I was riding currently had a good nose and was good on the brakes, but this is just incredible. It’s been really good to be able to test it here.”

The GSX-R1000R is available to test ride at every James Whitham track day training school at Mallory Park. To book your day, go here –Â https://www.jameswhitham.com/track-training#/
